I found this experience quite romantic, and it wasnt even my boyfriend! This guy was over for a dinner party I gave and he stood for ages in front of my bookcase. He then asked me "Where are your novels?" I told him that I had them in another bookcase in another room. He said "Hmmmmm" and stayed there and kept reading. Finally I laughed and asked him "What the hell are you doing?" and he answered "I am studying you." and he smiled warmly. Wow. That made my toes curl. Someone was that interested in knowing the things that are going on in my mind. Nothing ever came of it though. He was the best friend of my Ex and I guess that played a roll. Still - those words have remained with me all these years. They were lovely. @zamfir From now on, you are "Acorn" to us all! Love it!

My wife and I sing "Tonight You Below To Me" (The Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters version) to our son. She calls me "Acorn." She reads the most minuscule expression on my face and comforts me even if I don't know I need it.

Coming back to this question again to read responses, I've recalled an occasion of a gesture. We were riding around in the car one night, browsing music on his ipod and a song by one of my favorite bands came on. I told him to leave it there, I love them, then proceeded to burst out and sing along -- all off key. I think he giggled. I did sound terrible. A couple of days later, he was waiting in the car for me while I ran an errand. When I came back, he put on a song that I hadn't heard before, but I knew it was that same band because I recognized the lead singer's voice (it is unmistakable). "Mmm, I love his voice," I said. He went on to name the singer. I thought to myself, "I know it's Red Hot Chili Peppers. And so do you." I wondered if he played it on purpose, for me. I'm not sure. He is subtle and likes to quiz people. Intended or not, it made me smile and I found it romantic. Music is one of the best tools one can use to woo me.
