This past spring a Green Heron couple nested in a tree in our front yard. Every evening, once the eggs had hatched, the dad would fly like a dart to the creek behind our home to catch fish to feed his mate and his young...then the mom began doing it when the young got a bit older.

They become so accustomed to us that this Sunday, one of the babies just came down to visit! Way cool! Our two Jack Russell Terriers and a Jackshund we were dog sitting ran right up to it and it just stood there being cool! Stunned, they all three just stopped, sniffed it and sat with it, until got my camera, of course.
I felt like a part of the entire miracle that is the world, especially as it came down daily when we'd be out front until they flew to the creek for good around summer's end.

I had this perfect day....day off work, 62 degrees in December in Ohio. Crazy. Was able to find this spot that I'd been to once before with a hiking group. I sat for a while and took in my suroundings. As I was sitting looking up at the trees I felt so small, and it was nice to feel insignificant and unimportant for a while. Not the center of "my" universe, but a small part of something expansively larger. As I was sitting thinking these things it started to softly rain and the rain drops hitting the pool of water below the falls looked like twinkling stars. That feeling of reverence and admiration of beauty, when I'm out in nature, for me is a perfect day.

This is a picture that I took in Orange Beach, Alabama. It was the weekend before my wedding and I had went with a friend for a mini-getaway before the big day. One day, my friend didn't want to go to the beach. She stayed in the condo and I spent the entire day at the beach by myself. I read, people watched, swam, and laid in the sand, listening to the waves crashing, and felt a moment of complete happiness. It was a perfect day.
