Memory Lane Lit
A smell. A certain view. A particular sound. These senses have the supernatural ability to create Deja vu experiences that can drag you back into your childhood. For me, it happened last week. After I left the doctor's office I felt uneasy, as though an ancient, internal fear had suddenly made its way back into my life.
The exam itself went fine, despite being naked and vulnerable while receiving a full-body physical from complete stranger. And by stranger I mean a thirty-something year old doctor of the opposite sex. "It's official," I mumbled to myself, making my way out of the Upper East Side office. "I rather run into all three of my ex girlfriends at once than ever run into that doctor in a social setting."
Now I walk around my neighborhood on high alert, afraid I will run into the same woman who saw me naked just a few days back. Seems just like yesterday I was being dragged around the local grocery store by my mother, absolutely terrified that I would run into my school teacher.
