I am still amazed at all the hardships my community had to deal with, just to be treated equally, and with respect. I am also proud to come from such hard working men and women who stood up for their rights so we wouldn't have to. NM is a beautiful place and I'm proud to be who i am but even more proud of the people I come from, because we are the Salt of the Earth.

Traditional woven patterns from the Bontoc and Kalinga provinces of the Igorot culture of northern Philippines. They're artistic remnants of a past life present generations of igorot-descendants will not fully experience, living in a modernized world where these garbs are no longer the standard look and are only worn for traditional dances and events.

I'm of Igorot-descent and was born in America, but was able to learn about my heritage thanks to my parents.

I don't want this to sound like a complaint, but I don't really feel like I have a "heritage". This photo represents as blank an image as I can think of.

In fact, I don't think I even want a heritage.
I would much rather pick and choose the good parts of everybody else's heritage.

The border, on the right, my precious Tijuana, and on the left USA, I have a mix of cultures, I'm as Mexican as I am American even though I wasn't born in the USA

Not having much family growing up you tend to lean on your friends more. I chose this picture because it reminds me of a time when I was lost so many years ago, but everyone I love was so close.
