Life right now is on the fast track (not necessarily the fast track LEADING to anywhere, but still, its speedy) and I’m always running this way and that way and grabbing my hat and slamming the door and swinging around corners. -- Except when I’m on the damn roof of the climbing gym. I’m leading and I’ve gotten to the first set of anchors. I’ve got my left leg swung over the corner and my right foot jammed into a hold that is going to slip very soon and my abs just aren’t this strong, but I’ve pulled the rope out with my teeth, and if I fall now it’s such a huge distance I’ll probably kick everyone in the head. All I have to do is clip the damn clip. Clip the damn clip, get the gate open, damn it come on, my arms are twitching I’m about to fall like last time -- Later on, over coffee with the dude who belayed me I said, “What is with me and that first set of anchors? I was trying to clip that for about three minutes before I got it! Longest three minutes of my life.” -- Dude smiled. “Well, you do have a thing with those anchors, but it was only twenty seconds at the most.” -- Squeezing three minutes into twenty seconds is, I suppose, the whole reason I want to climb the roof at all. @melinacoogan

There was this time when I was in third grade and we were playing four square and there was a guy who lived on the other side of the wall from our parochial school who always complained about our recesses, and this kid Jason hit a bomber and it can-o-corned up and landed right on top of the wall, and I swear it bounced there like 4 times in slow motion with everyone staring at the ball and staring at each other and saying nooooooooooooooooooooooo in deep Will Ferrel tranquilizer dart voice but nobody moving to grab the ball. I don’t remember if it went over the wall or not, but I think it did. @CSW

This boy that I had been interested in for quite a while, he and a bunch of our friends, and myself, were at a show, seeing some local bands. I had my guitars in my car, because he had asked me to bring them. Near the end, we all got really bored, and went outside. A few months before this, he told me he would teach me how to play "after the storm" by mumford and sons, and when we went outside, he said, "Oh, Faith, let me teach you how to play that now." And he got really close, and started playing the song, and singing, and breaking it down, and we were like, breathing on each other. It felt like it lasted for days, but it was like, when it was over, it only took seconds to move on from it.

Every break up conversation I've ever had.

I was backpacking with my boyfriend and his friend.. we were a day and a half into some wilderness trails when we came across a narrow river. My boyfriend crossed next to a tree that had fallen across the river, his friend crossed upstream. I followed my boyfriend's path, wading through the river.. and it got deeper; I wasn't very concerned until 4/5th of the way I stepped into a hole and the rushing river was suddenly way past my waist and pushing me forward against the tree, which was my only support. My lower body wasn't strong enough to withstand the force of the flow. Something in my expression, I don't know what, because I didn't say a word as it was happening, teed the boys off that I was in trouble, because I heard his friend say "oh sh*t!" as my bf rapidly stripped off his shirt and headed toward me. As I felt the force of the river trying to sweep me beneath the tree and down the rapids, he yelled, "DON'T LET GO!" and I spun against the log trying to keep upright and from being swept beneath the log and then suddenly, I was in shallower water. Just as my boyfriend reached the bank, I looked at him and giggled hysterically, and told him I was fine. This all took place in under 20 seconds, but time stood still, to be sure.

The day I jumped from an airplane at 13,500 feet...It was a 60 second free fall but it honestly felt like I was falling for like 5 min. And honestly that was not enough. I wish I could have had that free fall feeling for longer. It was like air was holding me up. It doesnt feel like falling at all but rather that you are floating. Its not as if the ground comes racing at you. being that high up it would take you a while to reach the ground with just straight falling. But yea definitely felt like slow motion.

the day the girl i was seeing decided to leave me for her ex boyfriend who used to beat her??? she told me that he decided he still loved her. so everything we built vanished in a split second. unfortunately we were in the same course at college and i saw her after that in class. she told me things didnt have to be weird between us, all i saw after that were her lips moving and everything around me slowed down. it was like something from a movie. :'( anyway it lasted a bit untill my friend broke me out of it cos i looked strange

The day I almost died. I overdosed on medication and my brother had to rush me to the ER. It felt like hours to get there. Everything got quiet, cold... and slow.

I think the slowest moment in life was when I got in a car accident with my brother. It was early in the morning and we were driving to school. The sun was right in our eyes when we came up to the light and my brother ran a red light. As we were crossing the street I looked to my right and I saw this truck driving toward the side of our car. Before the truck hit us everything felt like it was going slow like one of the slow mo scenes in a movie.

As I walked up to the front porch of my ex-boyfreinds house the day I broke up with him. Rain was falling heavily but it seemed to hang in the air. I walked fast but it felt like my stomach was full of led and the journey took days. The moment I stepped onto the stoop the world moved again. Maybe time slowed so I could hold the image in my mind longer maybe time slowed because fear consumed me.

1) Seeing an unconscious girl my age on the back of what looked like a flatbed truck with 2 paramedics surrounding her, in the middle of a 600k+ outdoor benefit concert. Wanted to help more than anything.

2) Falling 20+ft, off the top of some stupid obstacle course thing. Time froze and my mind was perfectly clear and quiet. I only remember thinking "This is new." Then time sped up as my legs crashed into the ground faster than I could ever move them. Don't join rotc.

When I was hit by a car as I was crossing the road. I remember being on the crosswalk and knowing the car was going to hit me, it's as if I see the car hitting me from different angles, I know what it looks like to be on the hood and fly off it, and to be standing on the curb watching me be hit and the crowd that gathered around, the hospital was a blur. Broken ankle, fear of crossing streets and some internal fucked-upness, but I survived.

Right before i almost got my leg cut off... long story.

I was visiting family in Florida, and we went to my aunts friends country club. I normally hate those places, but this one was connected to the beach, and was very open without a golf course or even very many people about. There were two very beautiful life guards that alternated watching the pool and ocean in shifts, one had curly blond hair and a stellar body, the other had long brown hair and a stellar body. I spent most of my time with my much younger cousins, but when I'd look up I'd catch them looking at me. I didn't think much of it, but they totally made me nervous and feel like butterflies were trapped in my belly. Around the late afternoon, my uncle casually looks up and tells me that these dark clouds which looked hundreds of miles away would be here in ten minutes and bring lots of rain. He wasn't lying. I went to the dressing room to change, and on my way in I saw both the beautiful life guards sitting under the awning next to the pool watching me walk into the dressing room, and I got so nervous. As I walked out, there they were, sitting there waiting for me, watching me, and as I walked towards the exit (which was near them) I swear it was like slow motion, I kept my eyes down until the last moments, and when I looked up they were both looking right at me, smiling. When I got into the car I could not stop smiling. I hope every woman in the world gets a moment like that.

In January, my improv team won the first ever Missouri championship at our ThesCon. It was so exciting to know that we will always be the first one to win this honor. The moment was all in slow motion as I hugged and high-fived my team mates and my friends.

I was a Junior on the Varsity basketball team. The game went into overtime because of a half-court shot the opponent hit. We were down one with ten seconds left in overtime. Those ten seconds took forever. My teammate dribbled the ball and almost lost it going to the ground. I called for the ball and he passed it to me. I shot, the ball bounced off of the rim, then the backboard, but it went in. There were about two seconds left, but we won. The court got stormed. Coolest moment of my life. All felt like slow mo.
